New Mental Health App Available For Ag Sector

Jan 29, 2021
A new tool is now available for agricultural producers to help track their mental health.

The Avail app was developed by Saskatoon-based Bridges Health as part of Saskatchewan's Innovation Challenge.

The mobile app offers producers a confidential way to record and analyze their mental health.

Calls to the Farm Stress Line show that producers are looking for help in maintaining their mental health with over 1000 calls being received in 2019-2020.

The Avail app gives producers an opportunity to access online resources and videos, as well as find and access care providers in their communities.

As winners of the 2020 Innovation Challenge, Bridges Health received $10,000, and a 16-week residency to develop the app.

Agriculture Minister David Marit says the tool allows producers to take an active role in monitoring their mental health and accessing supports.

Bridges Health presented "Avail" Thursday during a digital presentation.
