NDP's Ag Minister Won't Be Returning To Legislature

Apr 17, 2019

Alberta's NDP Agriculture and Forestry Minister, Oneil Carlier, won't be returning to the legislature following Tuesday's Provincial election.

Carlier lost to United Conservative Party Candidate Shane Getson in the Lac Ste. Anne-Parkland riding, coming in second with about 23 per cent of the votes.

Farm groups are waiting to see who will be named the new Ag Minister as they'll be working closely on industry issues.

It was a big win for the UCP currently locking in 63 seats, and the NDP trailing with 24.

There will be just two parties in the legislature when MLA's get to work in Edmonton, as the Alberta Party and the Alberta Liberal Party didn't win any seats.

The UCP managed to win over Calgary and rural Alberta, but couldn't take Edmonton from the NDP.
