Minister Carr to highlight benefits of trade diversification to businesses in Toronto, Ontario

Nov 05, 2018
Ottawa, Ontario - Helping Canadian businesses of all sizes access new markets and providing them with the tools needed to do so is a priority for the Government of Canada. Canada’s trade agreements give Canadians unparalleled access to nearly two thirds of the global economy, which translates into economic growth and, ultimately, more well-paid jobs for Canadians.

The Honourable Jim Carr, Minister of International Trade Diversification, will travel to Toronto to highlight the expanding opportunities available to Canadian entrepreneurs, innovators, and small and medium-sized enterprises abroad through Canada’s ambitious trade diversification strategy.

The Minister will deliver an address at the Toronto Region Board of Trade and meet with its board members to highlight the diversification imperative. Minister Carr will also present awards to Canadian clean technology companies as part of Export Development Canada’s second annual Cleantech Export Week.

Following these events, the Minister will meet local Chinese community leaders ahead of his trip to China, where he will co-chair the Economic and Financial Strategic Dialogue.

Throughout his tour, Minister Carr will highlight, in particular, the benefits of the newly ratified Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), as well as the impressive platform of trade agreements now open to Ontario exporters.
