As of Monday afternoon, Manitoba Agricultural Services Corporation (MASC) had registered over 300 frost claims from last week.
David Van Deynze is Chief Product Officer with MASC.
"I think overall, generally speaking, it maybe wasn't quite as severe as we were thinking it could have been, certainly with the forecast that was going on...In some cases it maybe didn't get quite as cold as they were predicting and secondly I just don't think there was enough, or as many acres that were out of the ground or vulnerable crop acres that were out of the ground that could have been impacted by frost."
He says canola was the hardest hit.
