Today marks the return to the Legislature for Saskatchewan MLA's.
Agriculture Minister David Marit says there are a number of issues he wants to focus on in the next session.
"The transportation side, you know, we're really concerned about that side of it. We've got a bill that we brought introduced last fall on the animal production side. So, that's a combination of four or five bills, and we're putting that through this year."
Marit says obviously the lack of moisture is another concern, and they'll be monitoring that closely.
"I don't want to call it a drought yet, but the lack of moisture is a concerning for us. So hopefully we'll see that turn around, but really I'm happy with what we've done on the program side. I think we've done some good things for the livestock sector through the year, and I've had some good feedback from ranchers on that side. So hopefully we'll see some improvement on the moisture side to help."
He says he thinks program wise they've done what they can do with the changes they brought in for crop insurance and Ag Recovery to help producers dealing with drought.
Marit say's he's hopeful we'll see some decent moisture for the drought affected areas, and they won't have to look at another Ag Recovery in 2022.
