Manitoba’s bioscience industry partners with Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine

Guelph/Winnipeg,  – A new partnership will help Canadian agri-food and agri-tech entrepreneurs accelerate growth and commercialization potential of innovations. Bioenterprise Canada, Canada’s Food & Agri-Tech Engine, and Bioscience Association Manitoba (BAM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will strengthen collaboration between the two organizations.

“We welcome the opportunity to expand the Engine’s footprint in Manitoba and to add BAM’s considerable expertise in agricultural biotechnology, health biotechnology and cleantech biotechnology to our national network,” says Bioenterprise Canada CEO Dave Smardon. “This is an excellent example of how collaborative partnerships across our sector can boost growth and sustainability while simultaneously helping Canada meet its environmental and climate change goals”.

As a non-profit organization, BAM helps its members across Manitoba with resources and training opportunities to support skills development, enhance research and development and achieve commercial success. The organization also places a priority on encouraging innovative partnerships, and helping its members make connections with key stakeholders and government officials.

“We often seek out partnerships with other organizations that can help us elevate our bioscience industry, and Bioenterprise has proven to be one of those partners,” says Kim Kline, President of Bioscience Association Manitoba. “We look forward to building this new partnership and working towards collaborative outcomes that will accelerate Manitoba’s bioscience landscape and benefit both our provincial ecosystem and sector innovation nationally.”

Both organizations will look for opportunities to collaborate and make contributions to support life science, cleantech, agri-tech, and veterinary technologies related to the agriculture, agri-food and agri-tech sectors. This includes networking, mentorship, access to resources, and supporting research, innovation and funding opportunities that will help entrepreneurs and businesses realize growth and commercialization potential.
