LEMKEN, the agricultural machinery specialist, established AgroTraining as a separate training department in 2008 to support the large number and diversity of sales markets and sophisticated technology that provides numerous operating options. With eight new employees in the fast-growing North American market in the last two years, LEMKEN’s AgroTraining allows for better knowledge transfer so staff can continue to provide excellent local service. Headed by Peter Baumgärtner, this department now employs six trainers, who provide training to about 5,000 employees and sales partners every year – reason enough to establish a separate AgroFarm only two miles away from the Alpen, Germany headquarters.
The investment of more than EUR5 million for the AgroFarm opens up new opportunities and is an investment in the future. The training hall alone, which covers an area of 150,000 ft² with separate sections for Ploughs, Stubble Cultivation, Sowing and Crop Protection product groups, offers excellent opportunities for explaining the machines. However, LEMKEN AgroTraining is, above all, able to access adjacent fields to demonstrate implements in practical use. The modern seminar rooms in the facility, some of which offer direct views of the hall, allow up to four groups to be trained concurrently in the new facility.
All of the training units are comprised of three modules. Participants are trained in theoretical background knowledge first, carry out practical exercises using the implements in the hall and finally test and practice in the field. The program extends from training on fundamentals and innovations for sales staff and LEMKEN employees through to specialized training for service staff of specialist agricultural machinery dealers and LEMKEN’s own after sales colleagues in its more than 50 international markets.
