Lack of Snow Cover Changin Seeding Plans

We’ve seen some good movement in the last 10 weeks or so with Durum as export demands pick up.

G-3 Canada’s Director of Market Research Neil Townsend sees some upside in the durum exports for the rest of the year.

He notes as far as acres are concerned they expect to see about 5.75 million acres of durum this year:

"We might see some people opt to plant durum over spring wheat in some of the more fringe durum areas. Because they'll be saying with the drier soil or drier conditions the durum might fair better but right now, we're fairly comfortable with these numbers," he said.

Townsend says they also still expect to see double digit percentage gains for peas and lentils, given the strong market demand for pulses and the drought situation in India.
