Feb 28, 2014

AMES, Iowa – Agribusiness executives from across the nation gathered last week for the inaugural Entrepreneurial Agribusiness Executive Conference hosted by the Iowa State Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative.

The conference, held Feb. 18-19, provided a unique forum for assessing emerging trends and issues facing agribusiness today. The goal of the conference was to push participants’ entrepreneurial boundaries and provoke a constructive dialogue on strategic innovation in agribusiness.

Participants learned alongside industry leaders in an interactive discussion and facilitated debate forum with Terry Jones, former president and CEO of Travelocity.com and current chairman of Kayak.com. Jeff Stamp, Chief Storyteller at Bold Thinking and creator of Baked! Lays®, taught participants how to transform their approach to creativity from “accidental to intentional.”

Executives also gained insight on the paramount issues related to entrepreneurial leadership, strategic innovation in agribusiness, talent acquisition and international agriculture business development. Unique networking opportunities were a focus for the conference. All executives were invited to a networking reception hosted by Roger Underwood, co-founder of Becker Underwood.

The Agricultural Entrepreneurship Initiative at Iowa State is dedicated to providing students, faculty and industry professionals practical business development and entrepreneurial experiences essential for their success in a fast-paced, dynamic industry.
