Guelph/Halifax, — Bioenterprise Canada Corporation, Greenspring Bioinnovation Hub and Invest Nova Scotia are announcing the companies selected for their latest GreenShoots program intake. Each start-up receives up to $40,000 and business guidance from seasoned professionals to put their plans into action.
This is the nineth cohort for GreenShoots, an initiative launched in 2020 to support early-stage Nova Scotia companies focused on innovation in agriculture, food, bioproducts, clean technology, and related sectors.
Below are the four start-ups selected for GreenShoots this round.

Technology using wind energy, seawater, and captured carbon dioxide from air to make cost-efficient electrofuel
Altheda Wellness – Chris MacLean, Melanie Kelly, Peter Ford, Matthew Allain – Halifax
A natural product innovation company, researching and developing novel nutraceuticals to promote healthy aging
GC Lipid Technologies – Brandon and Dilan Jaunky – Sydney
Enhanced microalgae as a multifunctional ingredient for sustainable fish feed
PhyCo Technologies – Ranah Chavoshi and Dr. Stacey Goldberg – Sydney
Sustainable plastic alternatives from seaweed that are home compostable and non-toxic
