Farming For Success Field Day

The annual Farming for Success Field day will be held on June 23 and has a great schedule of tours and talks addressing the latest agronomic topics for 2016. Come enjoy the day with tours of the farm, visit with numerous industry representatives and review some of the latest research.

Penn State Extension and the Penn State Southeast Agricultural Research & Extension Center (SEAREC), 1446 Auction Road, Manheim, PA 17545, are hosting an agronomic field day for farmers, industry representatives and other agricultural professionals on June 23, 2016, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The field day promises to be an informative event featuring a wide range of crop production topics. You can see research plots in the field, learn from Penn State and Ag industry professionals and visit with industry sponsors.

The Farming for Success field day is planned and organized by local members of the Penn State Extension Field and Forage Crop Team, with support from several agricultural industry groups.

Participants will choose from three different tracks based upon their interests. Tour stops and sessions will include: “New and Alternative crops including Malting Barley and Hops”, “Herbicide Resistant Weed ID & Control. View plots with dicamba and 2,4-D Resistant Soybeans”, “Market and Commodity Updates”, “Farms of the Future: Conservation, Soil health, & Sustainable Yields”, “What’s New in Equipment Technology: Guidance, GPS, Mapping and More”, “The Benefits of Limiting Over-Reliance on Insecticides”, “Growing Wheat and Double Crop Soybeans: Maximizing your Growing Season”, “Improving Soil Productivity and Health with Organic Matter Management “ and “Pipeline Remediation of Agricultural Land”.

Registrants will also have the opportunity to visit with our sponsors from the chemical and seed industries, local equipment dealers, ag lenders and crop production professionals. Attendees can receive up: 5 Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) credits, 2 PA Nutrient Management points, 2 PA Manure Hauler Broker points. (Note: No PA Pesticide credits will be available.) The cost is $10.00 and registration is due June 21.
