MISSISSAUGA, ON – Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont, is pleased to announce that field corn and soybean growers in Eastern Canada now have a new option for managing glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane.

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently approved the registration of Elevore™ herbicide, a new tool that provides consistent, pre-plant burndown control of glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane and several other broadleaf weeds, including common ragweed.

“We know that glyphosate-resistant Canada fleabane is one of the top weeds on growers’ minds, as it’s extremely difficult to manage in-crop and herbicide options can be limited,” says Dave Kloppenburg, category leader for row crop herbicides at Corteva Agriscience™. “Controlling Canada fleabane with Elevore™ herbicide as part of a pre-plant burndown program is a good agronomic practice that helps ensure weeds aren’t interfering with your crop.”

Kloppenburg explains that Elevore™ herbicide contains Arylex™ active, part of a new family of Group 4 herbicides. Arylex™ active allows Elevore™ herbicide to bind tightly to target weeds, providing thorough, systemic control while also eliminating re-growth.

“We believe what sets Elevore™ herbicide apart from other competitive chemistries is the consistency of control – it locks onto the weed and doesn’t let go,” he says.

Kloppenburg recommends that growers use Elevore™ herbicide in combination with other residual herbicides and modes of action to create a robust, pre-plant weed control program that will help manage against future resistance.

Elevore™ herbicide can be applied pre-plant with all major corn and soybean production systems, including conventional, Roundup Ready®, Enlist™ and Xtend®.

Elevore™ herbicide will be commercially available in Eastern Canada for the 2019 growing
