Crops Looking Good In Alberta

Sep 05, 2022

Nearly 70 percent of crops in Alberta are rated as good or excellent as the start of harvest is set to begin across a wide swath of the province.

According to the latest crop report that came out on Friday, above-average yield expectations are the norm late this summer, but soil moisture conditions have certainly dropped in the past few weeks. The report says spring cereal and pulse yield expectations are all well above long term averages.

In central Alberta 76 percent of all crops are rated good or excellent right now. The wet weather in June provided the boost to crops that has carried over till harvest, but the cooler temperatures with that rain in June also was a setback for the growth of some crops and they're going to need good harvest weather well into September.
