Competitiveness of Regional Slaughterhouses: Ottawa and Quebec City Provide $13,860 In Financial Assistance to Québec-Oies

The Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec announced up to $13,860 in financial assistance for Québec-Oies under component 1 of the Programme d’appui à la compétitivité des abattoirs régionaux (PACAR). The company will use this money to fund a feasibility study for a project to establish a goose slaughterhouse in the Capitale-Nationale region.

Jean-Claude Poissant, Parliamentary Secretary to the federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Lawrence MacAulay, and Caroline Simard, Member of the Quebec National Assembly for Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré, on behalf of the Quebec Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Laurent Lessard, made the announcement, confirming the two governments’ desire to ensure the sustainability and development of animal production sectors by promoting increased competitiveness of slaughterhouses and improved slaughter services in response to regional or sectoral needs.
