“We believe in healthy living, advanced food production and giving back to our local community,” said Rick Brandt, President and CEO of BRANDT. “This program fits those concepts perfectly. Our contribution will enable several exceptional young scholars at the University of Illinois to learn and to contribute their talent to the quest for truly personalized medicine.”
The goal of the Center for Individualized Medicine is to provide exactly what a patient needs when it is needed: Personalized care based on that patient’s own genome. The Individualizing Medicine Conference, hosted at Mayo Clinic, is an annual event dedicated to presenting and applying the latest in genomic, molecular and clinical sciences.
“I am incredibly proud to announce this donation and to be a part of this exciting project,” explained Brandt. “Many of the BRANDT team, including me personally, have benefited from the world-class care at Mayo. Through this pledge, we are giving back. We are supporting amazing healthcare right in our own backyard, through an initiative that matches the best minds in medicine with the best minds in computer science.”
