Apply Now for South Dakota Century Farms and Ranches Recognition at SD State Fair

The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) and the South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) are set to honor the enduring legacy of South Dakota's family farms and ranches through the esteemed Century Farm and Ranch program.  

To be eligible for this program, applicants must demonstrate continuous ownership of a minimum of 80 acres of original farmland for a century or longer. For families who have surpassed the 125- or 150-year milestones, the Quasquicentennial or Sesquicentennial recognition can be pursued. It is essential to include documentation of the original purchase date with the application.

The deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, August 1, 2023. 

The South Dakota Farm and Ranch recognition program pays tribute to the families in South Dakota who have upheld ownership of their farms or ranches for a century, 125 years, or even 150 years.  Each year, Century farms and ranches are celebrated at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron. This year's recognition event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 31 at 10 a.m., on the South Dakota Farm Bureau Dakotaland Stage. 

Mark your calendars for the 2023 South Dakota State Fair, running from Thursday, August 31 to Monday, September 4. Channel Seeds preview night will be held on Wednesday, August 30.
