American Agri-Women Partners with Penobscot McCrum on its 'Drive Across America'
American Agri-Women is celebrating 40 years of advocating for agriculture with its “Drive Across America” and is pleased to announce Penobscot McCrum of Belfast, Maine, as a sponsor. The Drive Across America is a five-month educational and advocacy tour.
AAW is the nation’s largest coalition of farm, ranch and agri-business women. Penobscot McCrum is a vertically integrated company that specializes in every aspect of potatoes.
The McCrum family represents five generations of potato farmers who began in the northern Maine town of Mars Hill. As dedicated stewards of the land, the McCrums take great pride in their family’s long-time commitment to integrity, sustainability and the highest quality standards. Today, the McCrum family enterprise spans the entire state and the family monitors quality from field to table, ensuring that the highest standards are met every step along the way.
“I’m so proud to be part of a family farming operation that looks to the future. My family’s philosophy to food production matches American Agri-Women’s philosophy of promoting our nation’s safe, affordable and reliable food supply. I am so pleased to have the support of my family for this once-in-a-lifetime event,” says AAW President Sue McCrum, whose husband, Jay, is president of Penobscot McCrum.
McCrum and other leaders will drive in a specially wrapped pick-up truck, participating in educational, network and advocacy events hosted by AAW’s more than 50 affiliates. The Drive will finish at the 2015 annual convention in Portland, Maine.
