Ag Minister MacAulay Says International Trade A Priority For Farmers

Oct 17, 2017

Saskatchewan farmers are hoping to see more trade with Western Europe following a federal trade mission to the European Union.

Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay wraps up a ten-day European trade mission Tuesday holding talks with his farm counterparts in the European Union, Italy and Germany.

His goal was to promote the new Canada/European Trade deal, where he expects expanded farm trade to reach as much as 1.5 billion dollars.

“We have ambitious export targets over the coming decade,” MacAulay said in a media teleconference from Europe. “There are a couple of key trade missions lined up for the fall. The government will continue to make trade a priority for our farmers.”
