Fighting Crop Losses
Acadian Plant Health has introduced its Abiotic Stress Management (ASM) portfolio, a step forward in helping crops withstand environmental challenges.
Abiotic stress is the negative impact of non-living environmental factors on living organisms. Abiotic stress includes factors such as temperature, salinity, drought/floods, and metal toxicity. It can impact plant growth and development and causes reduction in crop yields.
Unlike traditional biostimulants, ASM is designed to improve plant growth and resilience against abiotic stress, which is the leading cause of reduced yields. Abiotic stress refers to environmental conditions like extreme temperatures, drought, salinity, and heavy metal toxicity that negatively affect plant health.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 90% of crop losses result from extreme weather, costing farmers approximately $170 billion annually. With increasing challenges such as unpredictable weather patterns, floods, and droughts, effective solutions like the ASM portfolio are crucial for maintaining crop productivity.
