USDA: U.S. Egg Products Report OCT-29


Shell Eggs Broken Up 16 Percent from Last Year

Shell eggs broken totaled 197 million dozen during September 2010, up 16 percent from September a year ago, and 12 percent above the 177 million broken last month.

During calendar year 2010 through September, shell eggs broken totaled 1,556 million dozen, up 4 percent from the comparable period in 2009. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2010 was 2,021 million pounds, up 3 percent from 2009.
