The House of Agriculture chairman, Frank Lucas said on Wednesday that there is no firm date to start drafting the Farm Bill.

Lucas did say however, that Congress still needs to work out fiscal challenges, which will ultimately determine the cuts and spending to agriculture. He declined to allude on what changes could be in this year’s attempt at passing the Farm Bill.

The House and Senate was unsuccessful at passing the new five-year farm bill in 2012, but did provide some extensions to the expired bill – which will last until Sept. 30, 2013.
