A statement from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency on the matter is coming, a spokesperson from Minister Bibeau’s office told Farms.com.
South Korea, a $90 million market for Canadian beef, is Canada’s seventh-largest beef export market by volume.
With South Korea’s restrictions lifted, the only countries left with suspensions are China and the Philippines.
The United States announced it wouldn’t impose any restrictions on Canadian beef following the confirmation of the atypical case of BSE.
Farms.com has contacted the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association for comment on South Korea’s decision.
