At the completion of this three-year highly competitive program in Kingston, students will receive an advanced diploma.
“Our graduates leave with excellent scientific training as well as the practical laboratory and veterinary technical skills needed in today’s workplace,” according to the program website.
“Graduates are eligible for registration by the Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science and for membership in the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians. They are eligible to write the OAVT and CALAS/ACTAL provisional registry examinations in their graduating year.”
The program prepares students for careers in veterinary hospitals, research labs, pharmaceutical and pet food sales, veterinary colleges and more.
Students will complete a variety of courses, including: veterinary anatomy, chemistry, physiology, anesthesia, pharmacology, microbiology, animal nutrition, livestock, surgical nursing, veterinary dentistry and immunology.
In addition to these courses, students will complete two five-week placements and one four-week placement.
