Oregon USDA launches farmer training series for 2025

Virtual events for beginning farmers and ranchers in Oregon

Are you a new farmer or rancher looking to grow your operation? Oregon USDA invites you to its Beginning Farmer Ranchers - In the Know virtual event series in 2025. This informative series connects new producers with essential USDA resources, helping them succeed in farming or ranching.

The first webinar is scheduled for January 21, 2025, at 3 p.m. PST on Zoom. Future sessions will be held in April, July, and October. The events aim to educate beginning farmers on available USDA programs, including farm loans, risk management tools, and conservation programs.

Special provisions like targeted funding and payment waivers make these programs accessible to those with less than 10 years of farming experience.

Highlights include presentations by experts from various USDA agencies -

NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) - Offers technical and financial assistance for conservation practices, with benefits like priority funding and higher payment rates.

FSA (Farm Service Agency) - Learn about farm record importance and explore farm loan programs designed to help new farmers.

RMA (Risk Management Agency) - Discover Federal crop insurance options to manage risks effectively.

Rural Development (RD) - Provides support for infrastructure, business planning, and renewable energy solutions in rural areas.
