Sweet Ontario Fruits Arriving In July
Ontario's 2025 tender fruit and table grape season is off to a promising start reports the Ontario Tender Fruit and Fresh Grape Growers. While the weather may be too hot for some farmers, it has has been ideal for producing a sweet and juicy crop.
A cooler-than-usual spring delayed the start of the growing season, returning it to a more traditional timeline. With warm summer temperatures and timely rainfall, the crop is now maturing well.
“We had a slow start, but Mother Nature is right on track,” said Sarah Marshall, Manager of Ontario Tender Fruit Growers. Consumers can look forward to their summer favourites at farm gate and in farmers markets and grocery stores as early as next week she says.
“We’re really pleased with how the crop is looking so far. After a cooler spring, the trees are healthy, and the fruit is sizing up nicely. The heat we’re getting now is helping to bring out that signature Ontario sweetness. It’s shaping up to be a great year for flavour and quality,” said Phil Tregunno, Chair of the Ontario Tender Fruit Growers and a long-time grower.
