USDA Calls on Farmers to Join County Committee Leadership
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is inviting farmers, ranchers, and agricultural program participants to take part in the 2025 County Committee Elections. The nomination period is open, with the deadline set for August 1, 2025.
County committees are crucial for local oversight of federal farm services. These committees influence decisions on disaster relief, conservation efforts, commodity support, and community employment. The USDA encourages eligible producers to nominate themselves or others for these important roles.
Eligible candidates include any agricultural producers who either participate in USDA programs or have cooperated by sharing information with the Farm Service Agency (FSA). Nominees must reside in the Local Administrative Area (LAA) holding elections this year.
“USDA encourages minority producers, women, and beginning farmers or ranchers to nominate, vote, and hold office,” stated a USDA official.
