Call for a united response to US tariff concerns
The possibility of US tariffs looms large over Manitoba’s economy, prompting urgent calls for action. With the potential for job losses and economic strain, officials are urging Premier Wab Kinew to prioritize a unified response.
“President-elect Donald Trump has made it clear to Canada that new U.S. tariffs cannot be avoided, yet the Kinew government’s failure to plan for this looming threat has left Manitobans worried and exposed to the serious impacts these new costs would have on their families and our economy,” said Wayne Ewasko, Leader of the Official Opposition.
The plan includes establishing a Manitoba trade office in Washington to strengthen relations and promote Manitoba goods internationally. Additionally, the committee aims to advance interprovincial trade reform and boost awareness of Manitoba’s economic strengths.
