Producers invited to share insights on new climate smart BMP adoption
A new intake for the On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) will open in 2026 for Ontario farmers, focusing on cost-share opportunities that support the adoption of innovative best management practices.
Program organizers are requesting feedback from producers to better understand interest, awareness, and readiness to adopt three climate-smart practices. This outreach aims to ensure that upcoming funding reflects real on-farm needs and helps improve the success of future environmental initiatives.
The survey highlights three emerging BMPs that may play an important role in climate-focused agriculture. The first is biological inoculant products, which support nitrogen fixation in field crops and may help farmers reduce fertilizer use. The second is biochar application, a soil amendment that can improve soil structure, water retention, and long-term carbon storage. The third involves additives for liquid manure storage, designed to support acidification and potentially reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Producers are encouraged to complete the short 5–8-minute survey by December 19, 2025. In appreciation, respondents will be entered for a chance to win one of three $50 Esso gift cards.
