Potential Listeria Bacteria Contamination Forces Product Recall
By Jean-Paul McDonald, Farms.com
The Canadian Food inspection Agency has issued a warning to the public about the possible contamination of pre-cut vegetables sold under the brand name of “Pure Flavor”.
The August 17 2012 food recall includes Pure Flavor brand's:
• Freshly Cut Grillers in Premium Medley
• Asparagus Blend
• Rustic Blend
• Steak Topper trays
The recalled products have expiration dates of August 11 through August 26, 2012.
Although there have been no reported cases of illness associated with the products, the public is reminded that food contaminated with the Listeria bacteria may not look or smell spoiled, but may still be contaminated and cause Listeriosis. Symptoms of Listeriosis can include high fever, nausea, headache and neck stiffness. The elderly, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk and should use extra caution.
