Bacteria Found in Raw Milk Products Forces Recall at California Dairy

By , Farms.com

The California Department of Food and Agriculture has issued a recall of Organic Pastures’ Grade A raw whole milk, skim milk and raw cream after testing discovered the bacteria campylobacter in the cream. The products being recalled have a date of September 13. At this time, there have been no reported illnesses.

This is the third recall in less than a year for Organic Pastures’ raw milk products. Ten people became ill after consuming Organic Pastures’ products in May, when cream tested positive for campylobacter bacteria. Earlier in November, three children were hospitalized after drinking Organic Pastures’ milk. In this incident, they were infected by a strain of E.coli that state officials suspect came from the dairy’s milk.
