Farm Credit Canada Recognizes Five Canadian Women Who Are Leaders in Agriculture

Farm Credit Canada announced on Wednesday five winners of its 2013 Rosemary Davis Award that recognize women who have demonstrated their leadership and commitment to the agricultural industry.

The winners will have the opportunity to attend the 2013 Simmons School of Management Leadership Conference in Boston, in April – which is prestigious forum designed for women leaders.

"These five women are a real inspiration to all women, especially those in our industry. Each moment they devote to working and volunteering is a contribution that advances the business of Canadian agriculture and agri-food," said Kellie Garrett, FCC Senior Vice-President, Strategy, Knowledge and Reputation. "We applaud the passion of these leaders and are encouraged to see the future of our industry shine even brighter through their dedication."

The award was established in 2005 in honour of the first female FCC board chair and a leader in agriculture. To-date nearly 200 women have been nominated for this award and thirty-five awards have been presented.

2013 Rosemary David recipients:

Colleen Younie (Morell, Prince Edward Island) – farm management extension specialist and community leader

Julia James (Harley, Ontario) – dairy farmer and youth in agriculture leader

Rohonda Driediger (Langley, British Columbia) – berry farmer, industry leader and marketing specialist

Sylvie Cloutier (Winnipeg, Manitoba) – geneticists, professor/ scientific leader

Pierrette Desrosiers (Saint-Herménégilde, Quebec) – psychologist and speaker/coach
