American Farm Bureau voices concerns in key policy meetings with leaders

The power of grassroots advocacy was demonstrated when American Farm Bureau President met with President at the White House to discuss key issues facing farmers. They covered farming practices, agricultural science, and the tools used in modern farming.

During the meeting, the Farm Bureau President said, “Thanks to your grassroots efforts, our nation’s leaders are seeing that what matters to agriculture should matter to all Americans.” This message underscored the critical role farmers play in feeding the nation and protecting natural resources.

The discussion included gratitude for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which updated outdated farm policy provisions and provided financial relief. The President was urged to complete a comprehensive farm bill to further support agriculture.

Trade was also a focus, with calls for more deals like the recent U.K. agreement and a clear stance against tariffs. The Farm Bureau stressed the need for fair trade policies and swift dispute resolutions.

Labor reform topped the agenda, highlighting the challenges of H-2A wage hikes and the difficulty of hiring workers. The President also heard about the essential role of pesticides in maintaining safe and sustainable farming operations.

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer joined the talks, both recognized for advocating for farmers.

The Farm Bureau’s Council of Presidents later gathered at the White House for an unprecedented meeting, engaging with senior officials and discussing agricultural concerns.

These high-level discussions showcased the true strength of grassroots advocacy, ensuring that farmers’ voices are heard and valued at every level of government.
