That week, CN moved over 806,000 metric tonnes of grain from Western Canada.
This volume topped the railway’s previous record by more than 50,000 metric tonnes.
The new milestone also came after CN experienced its second-best September ever for grain movement.
In September 2022, CN moved more than 2.64 million metric tonnes of Canadian grain.
These recent records are evidence that when multiple parties are working towards the same goal, good things happen, said Doug MacDonald, chief marketing officer with CN.
“This performance shows what can get done when partners collaborate to create supply chain solutions to supply chain challenges. We are very proud to have set a new record for the amount of Western Canadian grain moved in a single week,” he said in a statement. We are confident that our railroaders will continue delivering results for Canadian farmers and all of our customers.”
Canadian Pacific doesn’t have its week 12 data available.
But in week 11 (Oct. 9 to 15), the railway moved 701,320 metric tonnes of grain.
