Agriculture Safety Week Encourages Farmers to Make Health and Safety Plans

If you didn’t know already, this week is designated as Canadian Agriculture Safety Week - running from March 10th to 16th, 2013.
Agriculture safety week is put on by the Canadian Agriculture Safety Association (CASA) in partnership with the Federation of Agriculture (CFA) and Farm Credit Canada (FCC). Safety week is held annually in the third week of March in an effort to put a spotlight on the importance of farm safety.
This year’s theme is called ‘Get with the Plan’ which focuses on encouraging farmers to create their own written health and safety plans. This year’s emphasis comes after a recent survey found that although 85% of Canadian farmers believe that safety is important on farm, less than 9% have a written agriculture safety plan. This year’s campaign is designed to work on bringing more awareness to this issue, with the hope to bridge this gap.
