Pheromone Based Biological Solutions Reach Global Farm Markets

Bayer has announced the global expansion of its partnership with France’s M2i Group to distribute pheromone based biological crop protection solutions.

The agreement extends Bayer’s exclusive rights for M2i’s innovative pheromone gels to Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the United States.

Building on their 2023 agreement for Europe and Africa, this partnership aims to deliver sustainable pest control solutions globally. Bayer had previously launched M2i’s products targeting pests in fruits, tomatoes, and grapes across Europe and Africa.

Ralf Glaubitz, Bayer’s Head of Crop Protection Product Team, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, “Effective products with low or no residue are an important part of Bayer’s biological portfolio. Through these strategic partnerships, we are able to broaden the crop protection toolbox and farmers have more solutions available that they can apply in their farm operations.”

M2i’s Press technology uses pheromones in a thick gel applied directly to plants. This innovation reduces plastic waste and simplifies application, making it environmentally friendly. M2i CEO Phillippe Guerret said, “We are excited to see such an innovation distributed on a worldwide scale.”

The partnership has already led to the successful launch of products like VYNYTY Press in Europe, Africa, and recently in Chile. These products have provided farmers with sustainable solutions against pests such as Tuta absoluta and Lobesia botrana.

M2i Group leads pheromone production in Europe and specializes in organic molecule synthesis for agriculture. The company has earned 31 awards in 10 years and holds 35 patent families.

Bayer plans to integrate M2i’s pheromone technology with digital pest monitoring tools and other biological solutions, strengthening its open innovation strategy and commitment to sustainable agriculture.

The partnership highlights a shared goal of promoting eco-friendly farming methods and supporting farmers worldwide with advanced pest management solutions.
