Kaushik Luthra Joins to Improve Crop Quality and Farm Income
To address declining farm income and post-harvest challenges, Dr. Kaushik Luthra has been appointed assistant professor of post-harvest grain processing at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Based in Harrisburg, he will lead efforts to support rice producers across Arkansas.
Luthra joins the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department with over five years of experience in grain handling, drying, and storage. His work will focus on enhancing grain quality, improving processing efficiency, and promoting safety for both products and workers.
With rice cash receipts forecasted to drop 8% in 2025, Luthra’s research aims to increase returns for producers and processors.
He will also work alongside extension agents to deliver best practices in post-harvest management, ensuring knowledge reaches every corner of Arkansas agriculture.
