2024 OYF award goes to Komie Hossin

Komine Hosseini honored with WR Motherwell award

Komie Hossini, a Calgary-based former sponsor representative for Bayer Crop Science, received the prestigious W.R. Motherwell Award at Canada’s Outstanding Young Farmers (OYF) National Event in Lethbridge, Alberta, on November 29, 2024.

The award recognizes individuals demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication to the OYF program and Canadian agriculture. Komie’s impactful twelve-year involvement with OYF highlights his passion for agricultural development. Serving as a sponsor representative from 2012 to 2023, Komie participated in strategic planning sessions, board meetings, and social media initiatives. Since 2015, he has supported the program manager, offering media insights and sponsorship guidance.

Beyond OYF, Komie contributes to the Canadian agricultural sector through involvement with 4-H and the Youth Ag Summit. His role as Communications Business Partner at Bayer focuses on strengthening positive relationships through strategic leadership, agriculture advocacy, media relations, and more.

The W.R. Motherwell Award, established in honor of Dr. W.R. Motherwell, celebrates those who exemplify leadership in Canadian agriculture. Dr. Motherwell’s legacy includes serving as Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and establishing agricultural facilities at the University of Saskatchewan.

Komie enjoys outdoor activities such as soccer, mountain climbing, and trail running, alongside his wife, Diana. Amy Cronin, Canada’s OYF President, and Sylvain Gascon, a fellow OYF alumnus, presented the award.

Canada’s OYF program continues to recognize excellence in farming, celebrating its 44th year of highlighting the contributions of young Canadian farmers.
