AgForLife Web Site Wins Award

AgForLife.com, a web site dedicated to increasing awareness of career opportunities in agriculture, won chapter and regional first place awards from the Carolinas-Virginia chapter of the National Agri Marketing Association (NAMA).
AgCareers.com, an on-line career resource, helped develop and market the AgForLife concept. Content for the site was written by Communicopia, a marketing public relations firm in Wake Forest, NC, Texas A&M University and AgCareers.com. The site layout and design was created by AgriFood Innovations, Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

“It is very rewarding to see AgForLife.com receive this award, as we continue to enhance the industry’s efforts to market the worthwhile opportunities in agriculture,” said Eric Spell, president of AgCareers.com.

The Regional Best of NAMA Awards Ceremony was held January 17 at the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham, NC. Honoring the best work in agriculture marketing communications, the awards competition features categories in public relations, advertising and promotion. NAMA is an association for people involved in marketing communications, public relations, product management, or sales in the agribusiness industry.

Entered in the public relations category for Internet Websites – educational focus, directed to consumers, www.agforlife.com features a virtual career city and a student lab that takes visitors on an interactive journey through opportunities in agriculture, food and life sciences. It depicts the full spectrum of opportunities – from the various degrees and majors students can earn at agricultural colleges, to the many ag-related career paths and job possibilities they can pursue.

“The fate of our industry is of concern to universities and corporations throughout the agriculture industry – the AgForLife initiative was truly an industry-led effort to address this issue,” said Spell.
