Where research meets production

Mar 22, 2019

London ON  – The pork industry will gather March 26 and 27 for the 19 th annual London Swine Conference (LSC) at the DoubleTree by Hilton, in London, Ontario.
“LSC is a platform for learning and sharing ideas that will help grow and improve your
business. You can learn not only from our outstanding lineup of speakers, but from each other with networking opportunities following each day’s formal sessions” says Conference Chair Teresa Van Raay

As always, the LSC program will include leading researchers, industry experts and pork producers. This unique mix of perspectives provides new insights and can lead to lively workshop discussions. Domestic and international speakers on a wide range of topics will include Billy Flowers, discussing sow longevity and the use of records and observations to find and address reproductive challenges. Jeff Ansell will address dealing with the media in a talk titled “When the headline is you”. Michelle Painchaud will address what your staff may think of you and how to build the best team.

The conference program aims to span the full range of topics required by today’s pork producer. Looking at human resource topics and media relations through nutrition and animal health, cost of production and best management practices, all the way to carcass cuts and international trade, the scope is broad. The format of main sessions mixed with workshops also allows for a variety of presentation settings and styles to promote interaction and participation by attendees.

Presenters this year will include: Chantal Farmer, Agriculture and Agri-food Canada; Hans Stein, University of Illinois; Kevin Stewart, The Forward Factors; Michael Young, Canada Pork International; and many more. Full program details are online at www.londonswineconference.ca

Conference fees are $175 per day. Fee includes breaks, lunch, reception and one copy of the proceedings. Discounts are available for groups of five or more who register and submit one payment. Registration deadline is March 22, 2019. Please note that there is no registration at the door.

The London Swine Conference is a joint effort by staff from Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), Ontario Pork, University of Guelph, Ontario Pork Industry Council, and is made possible through strong industry sponsorship.
