Some Alberta pork producers will showcase their operations during an event this weekend.

On Aug. 18 and 19, farmers will welcome visitors at their operations for the sixth annual Alberta Open Farm Days.

Throughout the celebration, members of the public can attend over 110 host sites and culinary events, a recent government release stated.

At these locations, people can participate in tours and purchase local products. Some farms may also host such activities as corn mazes and hay rides.

“Open Farm Days is a great opportunity for Albertans to support this industry and meet the people who put food on their tables,” Oneil Carlier, Alberta’s minister of agriculture and forestry, said in a government release.

“A strong local food industry creates jobs and connects communities.”

Some of the participating pork producers include Broek Pork Acres near Coalhurst, Cloverleaf Colony near Delia, Honest Meat Co. in Caroline, Livelifelivery Farm near Mossleigh, Stonepost Farms in Wildwood and TK Ranch near Strathmore, the Alberta Pork website states.

Members of the public can visit these farms free of charge. However, producers may require fees for some activities.
