25% of Nebraska Corn, 38% of Soybeans Harvested

Nebraska's harvest slowed last week with just 1.3 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. It reported on crop progress and condition for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 14.
 
Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 13% fair, 48% good, and 32% excellent. Corn mature was 95%, near 91% both last year and for the five-year average. Harvested was 25%, ahead of 16% last year, and equal to average.
 
Soybean condition rated 2% very poor, 5% poor, 13% fair, 55% good, and 25% excellent. Soybeans harvest was 38% done, ahead of 32% last year, but behind the average of 54%.
 
Winter wheat condition rated 5% very poor, 9% poor, 21% fair, 45% good, and 20% excellent. Winter wheat planted was 89%, near 85% last year and the average of 92%. Emerged was 75%, ahead of 65% last year, and near the average of 74%.
 
Sorghum condition rated 1% very poor, 1% poor, 15% fair, 47% good, and 36% excellent. Sorghum mature was 95%, ahead of 90% last year, and near the average of 91%. Harvested was 32%, ahead of 22% last year and the average of 27%.
 
Pasture and range conditions rated 2% very poor, 4% poor, 18% fair, 64% good, and 12% excellent.
 
Soil Moisture
 
Topsoil moisture supplies rated 1% very short, 5% short, 70% adequate, and 24% surplus.
Subsoil moisture supplies rated 1% very short, 9% short, 76% adequate, and 14% surplus.
