The Village of Barley is in North Hertfordshire, England.
The community didn’t get its name from the crop, but from Beora’s Ley, a “woodland clearing owned by a Saxon Lord called Beora.”
Notable Barley residents include Redcliffe Salaman, a botanist and potato breeder, and Sam Smith, a British singer, worked in the local shop before the height of his fame.
