Gord Bamford was born in Traralgon, Victoria, Australia, but grew up on a farm in Lacombe, Alta. with his mother after his parents’ divorce. His mother, a country singer herself, encouraged Gord to follow his passion for music.
He entered and won Nornet Radio Network’s “Search for the Stars” contest in 1995 while working as a cement truck driver. He released his debut album, God’s Green Earth, in 2001 and has since won a Juno award for Top New Talent of the Year (2008) and Canadian Country Music Association awards in 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2016.
